Bar Mitzvah Celebrations in Hevron

Justin Levin from Melbourne, Australia; Max Wolfson from Palm Springs, California; and Mendel Gutleizer from Crown Heights, decided to hold their Bar Mitzvah celebrations in Hevron together with dozens of soldiers.

Chabad of Hevron arranged and hosted the Bar Mitzvahs for the three boys. Local cooks made fabulous food. Local musicians added to the Hevron atmosphere, and the magic show – by Victor – is the best!

Having their Bar Mitzvah celebrations in Hevron brought a special connection to the Avos and the roots of the Jewish nation to the Bar Mitzvah boys. It is not the food or music that makes the Bar Mitzvah – it is the initiation into a life of Torah and Mitzvos. Hevron is the perfect place to make that transition.

Having the soldiers at the Bar Mitzvahs adds to the celebration in a two way pattern. On one hand, the soldiers appreciate being remembered in a very real way. They feel like they are appreciated for the tasks they do. And from the other direction, the families appreciate how the soldiers are sincerely happy for the Bar Mitzvah boy.
